A Warm & Welcoming Catholic Family of Faith, Love & Service
On April 12, 2017, at the annual Chrism Mass at Saint Augustine Cathedral in Bridgeport, Bishop Caggiano announced the election and appointment of the first Deans of our 9 new Diocesan Deaneries. I was elected Dean by the priests of our new Deanery which embraces 7 parishes – the parishes of Ridgefield, Wilton, Georgetown, Redding, Easton and Weston. Yesterday Bishop Caggiano called me to confirm my election and appointment.
We all hope that this new deanery structure, replacing our previous vicariate structure, will strengthen fraternal support among our clergy, foster regional planning and collaboration to make better use of talent and resources, and provide for greater accountability. As a Dean, I will also serve as a member of our new Diocesan Clergy Assignment Board, a consultative body which assists our Bishop in assigning priests and deacons to ministry, and our Diocesan Presbyteral Council (Council of Priests) which advises our Bishop in matters concerning the governance of our Diocese.
Our new deanery structure took effect yesterday, April 11, and I ask you to keep our 9 new Diocesan Deans in your prayers as we move forward to implement this new initiative.
