A Warm & Welcoming Catholic Family of Faith, Love & Service
Disciples 4 Life Retreat is an adult weekend retreat open to all men and women of the Parish over the age of 18. The leaders of the retreat, which focuses on discipleship, are men and women of our Parish. It is an opportunity for you to spend some time away with God and to explore why we are called and how to live out our discipleship. The retreat is offered twice a year at the Seton Neumann Center in Danbury, CT.

Is it the right time for you to go on a retreat?
Luke 14-20: Jesus replied: “A certain man was preparing a great banquet and invited many guests. At the time of the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’ “But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said, ‘I have just bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me.’ “Another said, ‘I have just bought five yoke of oxen, and I’m on my way to try them out. Please excuse me.’ “Still another said, ‘I just got married, so I can’t come.’
A learned interpretation on the story Jesus is telling is that one man was occupied with business deals – he’s the man of power. Another was excited about his new purchase – he’s the man of possessions. And a third was engrossed in the raptures of a newlywed – he’s the man of pleasure. The teaching is that we all, at times, put God and our faith behind other worldly initiatives. The D4L retreat is offered as an opportunity for you to say “yes” to the invitation. There are always conflicting schedules, issues, priorities, but only you can answer the question: “Is the time for you to devote a weekend away for renewal of your faith, for your benefit, for your family and for the community? It may take a little bit of courage to evaluate that question honestly, so you are encouraged to pray on the invitation with an open and listening heart.
What can I expect, and what is expected of me on the retreat?
You should expect an uplifting time away dedicated to coming closer to Christ. Hundreds of people have gone before you, and overwhelmingly have assessed the weekend as ranging from extremely beneficial to life-changing. You will be in the company of caring individuals and you will likely experience a weekend of good fellowship, food and friends. There will be time to reflect individually on your spirituality, as well as hear from the retreat team about their faith journey. There is no requirement for you to share your thoughts or experiences with others in a group setting. In short, although there may be moments where you challenge yourself, you will be in an environment of Christ’s love and support.
Do you have to be Catholic? You’re still welcome! We do our best to make you feel comfortable and understand the different elements of the weekend. We’ve had many retreatants in the past in your same shoes that have had a great experience. D4L is open and welcoming to all Catholics and all other adult Christian men and women.
