The Dorothy Day Hospital House has been feeding the hungry and sheltering the homeless in the Danbury, Connecticut area since 1982. Located on Spring Street, the organization prepares breakfast each morning (Morning Glory Program) and hot meals in the late afternoon to sometimes over 100 people using food that has been donated from local groups. Guests may take sandwich bags with them when they leave. Dorothy Day is also used as a shelter from the cold during winter months.
Dorothy Day Food Volunteers Needed
The Dorothy Day mission to feed the homeless and under-served has expanded to include residents in Pacific House, a managed homeless shelter in Danbury. We are seeking additional volunteers to prepare trays of food and salads from your home once a month. St. Mary volunteers serve on the third Sunday of each month. If you are interested in volunteering or want to know more, please email Monica Taddonio at monica.taddonio@gmail.com. Thank you!
